1. Global Law at Reading: Gandhi Research Seminar Series 2023/24. Global Law at Reading (GLAR) has announced the speakers for the Gandhi Research Seminar Series for the Spring term of 2023/24. All of the seminars will take place in-person at the Reading Whiteknights campus, Palmer building. All are welcome. The seminars are as follows: 1. 23 January 2024, 12:00-13:00, Professor Robert McLaughlin (Australian National University), Current Developments in the Law of Naval Warfare, Palmer G05; 2. 8 February 2024, 13:00-14:00, Dr Benjamin Thorne (University of Kent), The Figure of the Witness in International Criminal Tribunals, Palmer G04; 3. 27 February 2024, 13:00-14:00, Professor Kimberley Trapp (University College London), Violence in and to International Law, Palmer G06; 4. 5 March 2024, 12:00-13:00, Professor Sandesh Sivakumaran (University of Cambridge), Crafting the Prohibition on Violence against Women under International Law, Palmer G05; and, 5. 14 March 2024, 12:00-13:00, Dr Afonso Seixas-Nunes (Saint Louis University), Outerspace and International Humanitarian Law: Intersection or Divorce?, Palmer G04.

2. Call for Applicants: American Branch of the International Law Association Chief Operating Officer. The American Branch of the International Law Association (ABILA) is inviting applications for the recently-created vnpay database position of COO. This is a part-time remote position that requires about 60-75 hours per month (more in October for International Law Weekend) and offers a lot of flexibility and experience at a 101-year old U.S.-based international law NGO, famous for organizing the annual International Law Weekend conference in New York. The compensation is in the range of $32 per hour (approximately $25k per year). Anybody interested should submit a cover letter, CV, and list of three references using the upload link on their website. 3. Call for Papers: European Yearbook on Human Rights. The European Yearbook on Human Rights is shedding light on current human rights topics of concern and the most pressing issues that impair human rights protection, the rule of law and democracy in Europe and beyond. They now welcome submissions concerning human rights developments within the major European institutions, namely the EU, the CoE and the OSCE. Articles concerning a topic not related to one of the aforementioned institutions but dealing with current and topical human rights developments will be taken into consideration as well. Authors will be invited to submit full contributions based on an abstract (max 500 words) that should be send by 20 December 2023. Abstracts should be submitted with a short bio to lisa.heschl {at} uni-graz(.)at. The deadline for submitting the manuscript is end of March 2024.
