If we think back to the keywords “buy organic dog food,” the content for this topic should tell readers specifically how to buy organic dog food and everything relevant to making that decision: where to buy, how to buy, what to buy, and so on.
This is where quantity comes into play. If you only write 200 words on the topic, then it is practically impossible to write quality content. You will not address the question in any depth or give readers everything they need.
As for a specific minimum word count, there have been endless discussions about post length. Many people used to say 500 words—now they say anything between 1,000 and 3,000 words.
One reason Wikipedia ranks at the top of the search results page is because it provides amazon database long, detailed articles, most of which are at least 2,000 words long.
I would personally recommend 1,000 words as an absolute minimum, but with the caveat that you always keep value in mind. After 1,000 words, ask yourself: Is there more to say on this topic? If the answer is yes, then keep writing.
