Komkon became related to Ipsos

Post by rifat28dddd »

While I was on vacation, news broke on the research market about the merger of two large networks, Ipsos and Synovate. Now it will be the number 3 player globally (after ACNielsen and Kantar Group)

I am providing a link to an article in Kommersant, which also talks about the purchase of the Russian Komkon by the Synovate group, and about the balance of power in the Russian research market.

Research company was resold

Research company Comcon is changing owners once again. In canada cell phone number list December, the British research group Synovate acquired control of Comcon for about €4 million, and yesterday the French Ipsos, which has its own office in Russia, announced the purchase of all of Synovate.

French research group Ipsos is buying the Synovate network, which belongs to the British communications holding Aegis, for ?525 million (€595 million), the company announced yesterday. Ipsos, with revenue in 2010 of €1.14 billion and operating profit of €119.5 million, is now the fifth largest player in the global market for marketing research, Synovate with €587.5 million and €46.6 million respectively is sixth. The combined company, if we go by last year's figures, will already occupy third place in the research rankings, behind only the American Nielsen (revenue in 2010 was about €3.93 billion) and Kantar Group (€2.14 billion), the research division of another British communications holding, WPP.

Both Synovate and Ipsos have a presence in Russia. Ipsos entered the market in 2002, buying local company F-Squared for about €3 million. The Russian office's revenue grew by 31% in 2010, to almost €18 million, and now employs about 220 people.

Synovate opened its own office in the mid-2000s. Its Russian revenue in 2010 is estimated at up to €7.5 million. But last December, the British network announced the purchase of a controlling stake in one of the oldest Russian companies, Comcon: according to expert estimates, it cost about €3.8-4.5 million. As a result of the deal, the businesses of the two companies were combined on the basis of Comcon (now renamed Synovate Comcon and employs up to 300 people). Experts estimate Comcon's revenue in 2010 at up to €17 million.
