What are business processes?
Business processes are structured sequences of activities and tasks performed by an organization to achieve a specific goal, such as producing an item or providing a service. They are essential to the efficiency and consistency of operations, enabling the standardization and optimization of workflows.

Therefore, the concept refers to a set of activities related to the organization's routine, aiming to deliver maximum value to the customer.

These processes determine the sequence of a company's activities and, as they are directly related to the functioning of the business, they include all the elements that are part of them.

In short, they are responsible for defining and demonstrating what must be done, how it will be done and who will be responsible for doing it.

What are the types of business processes?
There are basically three types of organizational procedures: primary (also known as essential), support, and managerial. Let's talk about each of them.

Primary or essential
Essential processes, known as primary processes, encompass all the activities that are fundamental for the organization to achieve its goals in the market. This includes: product development, production, marketing, delivery, after-sales service, etc.

Support or support
These processes do not involve direct contact or delivery of value to consumers, serving as support for other procedures.

The idea is to facilitate the execution of primary processes, making them more relevant to the entire value chain. Two good examples would be HR management and IT infrastructure .

Managerial
Management procedures are also aimed at supporting other processes, however, with a greater focus on measuring, controlling and monitoring them.

Its main objective is to coordinate primary and support activities, recognizing bottlenecks and proposing improvements to make the company more efficient.

Among the main examples, we can mention performance management, organizational governance and even strategic business management.
