"The goal of the MetaVDNKh project was to reveal

The Moscow DIT launched a digital copy of the country's main exhibition, with the ability to take a virtual walk or tour of it, on August 5. "MetaVDNKh" is based on a 3D model of the exhibition from a digital twin of the city. It contains detailed digitalization of more than 80 objects and 400 exhibits of VDNKh.

Alexander Fuentes, Head of the Department for Support of Digital Master Planning Projects at the Moscow DIT, reported that some time ago, the idea of transferring the digital twin of Moscow (it has been in operation since 2019) to a new technological platform arose at the city leadership level. "At that moment, the metaverse appeared, which allowed us to add game dynamics to the system," said Alexander Fuentes. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of the digital twin of Moscow to the general public, the Moscow DIT chose one of the most iconic areas of the city - the VDNKh exhibition.

Director of the Department of Strategic Development and Territory Management of JSC "Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy" Alexander Belavin recalled that VDNKh is the second most visited landmark in Moscow after Red Square. Therefore, he sees the value of "MetaVDNKh" not only in the opportunity to preserve a 3D image of the exhibition for future generations, but also in demonstrating it to travel agencies - to show its real appearance. Alexander Belavin complained that many still remember the image of VDNKh from the 1990s, when various trade flourished on the territory of the exhibition - it is enough to recall the advertising slogan of that time "Furs at VDNKh".

the exhibition's potential chile whatsapp resourceto a wide audience," added Anton Zubkov, Head of the Project Support Department for the Official Portal of the Mayor and Government of Moscow at the DIT.

Vanya Through the Looking Glass
In addition to independently exploring the 3D model of the exhibition area and pavilions, the MetaVDNKh platform allows you to take part in a virtual tour led by a digital avatar of 18-year-old singer Vanya Dmitrienko. During the discussion "MetaVDNKh. From the creators" Vanya Dmitrienko shared his surprise that creating a metaverse is a long and labor-intensive process, including his own digitalization (from his face to his gestures).

Evgeniya Kuznetsova, Head of the External Communications Department of the State Budgetary Institution "Information City", reported that at first it was supposed to present historical and other information in "MetaVDNKh" in the form of plates or pop-up windows, but then the project's initiators came up with the idea of creating a live tour.

"Instead of digitalization, we could have simply recorded a video with Vanya Dmitrienko, but visitors to MetaVDNKh are also in 3D space, which means that someone can see the guide full-face, someone - from the side, and someone - from behind," Alexey Samokhin, creative producer of the MetaVDNKh project, explained the purpose of the long digitalization. He added that the image and clothing of the virtual Vanya Dmitrienko were developed specifically for the project. "And since the territory of VDNKh is large, we came up with the idea that he would fly around it on a board like a Hoverboard," Alexey Samokhin said.

According to Konstantin Negachev, creative producer of the MetaVDNKh project and general director of Viarti LLC (VRT), several hundred 3D artists worked on the MetaVDNKh project.
