Artificial intelligence has begun to be used in the healthcare sector of the Kirov Region. This allows digital patient profiles to be created. This was reported by the press service of the Government of the Kirov Region.
Dmitry Kurdyumov said, healthcare is one of the priority sectors for the practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) systems. In the Kirov region, the improvement of preventive medicine was chosen as a priority area. The Russian predictive analytics platform Webiomed was chosen as the basic software product. The project implementation included 3 stages.

The AI system is capable of independently extracting the data necessary for analysis from electronic medical records, comparing them with data from past periods, assessing the dynamics of changes in health indicators, identifying the emergence of dangerous trends and risk factors. All this together allows the formation of so-called digital patient profiles, which in turn represent a valuable resource for supporting the adoption of management and clinical decisions.
The project, launched in 2019, was called "Creation of a regional system for monitoring high-risk patients in the Kirov region using artificial intelligence." The goal of the project was to preserve the health and well-being of residents of the Kirov region through the digital transformation of prevention processes and the introduction of artificial intelligence.
"A very important property of AI is that the said analysis of information is carried out without any human participation. To obtain detailed analytics, there is no need to force doctors to spend their valuable time entering data into various monitoring or accounting systems. It is enough if the doctor fully maintains an electronic medical record during his appointment. The extraction and analysis of EMR data is carried out by the AI system. It also suggests which patients need additional examination and treatment to prevent complications of existing diseases. The work of AI is a truly unique example of big medical data analysis," noted Dmitry Kurdyumov.
Doctors and healthcare managers at all levels, from the head of a clinic to the minister, can at any time receive accurate analytics on morbidity, prevalence of risk factors or high-risk patients for the most dangerous diseases. All this makes the use of the system extremely effective.
