Study shows profile of Brazilian defaulting consumers

A survey conducted by the Decision Analytics area shows that the majority of those with negative credit ratings are between 41 and 50 years old; the most affected social class has an income between 1 and 2 minimum wages and represents 39.1% of the total

A study developed by the Decision Analytics area of ​​Serasa Experian, responsible for analyzing information about consumers and companies, shows the most up-to-date profile of Brazilian defaulters. The survey refers to May 2017, when the total number of consumers with bad credit ratings reached a historic high of 61 million, driven by unemployment and the economic recession.

The majority of the 61 million defaulters have only one debt (37.3%). The study also shows that 30.7% of consumers with bad credit have four or more debts. The percentage of consumers with two debts is 19.9% ​​and 12.1% of the total have three debts.

Default by region and states

The study also shows that the region with the highest percentage of defaulters in the country is the Southeast, with 45.2% of the total, followed by the Northeast, which corresponds to 25.1% of the total. The South of the country is in third place in the ranking, with 12.8% of those in default. The North and Northeast are in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
