How to Set Up Facebook Messenger for Business: Step-by-Step Guide

Post by subornaakter20 »

So, your business has a Facebook page (if you don’t have one yet, be sure to create one and fill in all the required fields carefully). All that’s left is to set it up correctly.

Step 1: Select a username
This is the name that your interlocutors will see in the messenger. It is displayed under the page name, on the left, and always begins with @.

This same name is present in the URL of your business page on the social network.

Name requirements:

length - from five characters and more;

contains only letters, spaces and numbers;

similar to the name of your company (then clients will easily find you).

When creating a business page on Facebook, only its name is specified, and the username is defined separately.

Once you have thought up and set a name, click the Create username button (it is located at the bottom right). If the name is already taken, choose another one. It should be unique and associated with your business.

Step 2: Enable Messaging
Once you have filled out the page, upload an avatar and cover photo. After that, you can start publishing posts. When you decide that you need to communicate with clients in private messages and you are ready to use Facebook for this, open access to them to everyone.

To do this, click Settings - General - Messages - Edit .

Step 3: Set up instant reply and greeting text
A business page visitor, by clicking on the Write a message button (although it may be called differently), will immediately receive the first response. You can use the first message for different purposes:

Introduce your company, say hello, and offer to chat.

Warn the user how long they will have to wait for a response.

Redirect the person to the appropriate page of the site (where the information he is interested in is located).

You can make the first reply more personal by adding the user's name (which is listed on their page).

To turn on instant reply, go to Facebook Messenger Settings, then Messaging, and scroll down to the Reply Helper section.
