The Importance of Typography
The best typography is the one in which the reader does not notice the font but only the message. Sometimes choosing the right typeface can be one of the biggest challenges in graphic design, as it serves not only to convey a text/message but also a concept, an idea that reinforces the written message and captures attention.
When choosing a font, it is necessary to make decisions such as: What is the support? Will the font be serif or sans serif? Will it be upper or lower case? High contrast or thin? What is the color? What is the cut? It is true, there are many variations that we sometimes do not even consider.
Do you know the difference between a serif font and a sans serif font?
A serif font is one that has a stroke at the end. It is considered a more bolivia number dataset font and its appearance may serve a greater purpose.
As a general rule, for long text in print, a serif font is the best option. It allows for better reading on this type of medium because it produces a visual effect of “optical coagulation”. Thus, serifs make reading easier because they create a line and make the text appear continuous to the reader’s eyes.
In the digital environment, the same does not happen due to its lower resolution, where a font with more simplified shapes, sans serif, allows for good readability. When the font is used for a more graphic purpose, the decision will vary depending on the idea that is intended to be conveyed.
So, when building a website, what guidelines should be taken into consideration?
– Use 2 to 3 different fonts at most, unless it is intentional.
– Choose simple fonts for texts to ensure that all users can read them easily.
– Use more elaborate fonts only in titles or highlights where the text is shorter.
