Steps to identify academic researchers in Google Scholar

Post by subornaakter20 »

Go to Google Scholar
Open the main page in your web browser

Do a search
In the search bar, enter the name of the automotive mailing list scientist you want to query. The more specific you can be, the better, so you can include details of the institution to which he or she belongs.

Examine the results
At this point, Google Scholar will have already given you some results based on the search you performed. Study which options best fit what you are looking for.

Filter by author
On the left panel of the results page, you'll find a drop-down menu with the title “author.” Select the name you're searching for to limit the results to articles written by that person. Otherwise, you may come across documents in which nothing else is mentioned.

Check the author
After you have selected the name, the platform will provide you with information related to it. You will be able to see and confirm which institution it belongs to, what its most relevant articles are, etc.

Tips for using Google Scholar successfully
As you may have noticed, the tool we are talking about is useful for all those people who are looking for bibliography. However, it becomes more relevant for those who are developing their degree theses or other research of this type.

With Google Scholar, the librarian's knowledge is no longer necessary, but you do need to keep in mind some guidelines to avoid wasting time and be as assertive as possible. We detail them below:

Access Google Scholar
The first step is to familiarize yourself with the platform. Nothing good can come of it if you don’t explore it to the fullest. So, go to the Google homepage and search for “Google Scholar” or visit scholar.google.com directly.

Perform a specific search
Once you are inside the platform, enter keywords related to your research topic in the search bar. You can use complete phrases or more general terms, depending on your needs.

It is very important that your search goes from less specific to more specific, because then you will be sure that you are not leaving out elements that may be of interest to you. We suggest that, when you sit down in front of the search engine, you have a list of keywords or associated terms to try out different alternatives.
