Okay, okay, we know we've stolen a lot of ideas from Digital Marketer, but we promise this is the last one. We chose it because it's one of the best newsletter themes to keep your audience interested and appreciative.
First, the word “steal” is intriguing. It’s taboo, after all — you’re not supposed to steal. But Digital Marketer invites you to do just that. Plus, it promises something special and valuable.
11. “Make the most of your kitchen with these easy solutions” – IKEA
There is no denying that IKEA knows its clinical nurse specialist email list audience. The Swedish giant focuses on helping its core customers use their spaces more efficiently without sacrificing quality.
And that's exactly the sore point this topic touches on. You can get more kitchen space, but it doesn't take much time or too much effort. Sold!
12. “Learn a language in just 5 minutes a day” – Duolingo
Duolingo is a mobile app that helps you learn another language — and as the subject line above says, you can do it in just five minutes a day. This hits the nerve of time. Potential clients want to learn another language, but they have a small window in which to do so.
13. “Stop wasting time on meaningless work” – Evernote
Sometimes you have to tell your potential customers what to do, or in this case, what to do. Evernote hits a familiar pain point in a surprisingly simple way.
Instead of saying, "5 ways to reduce the time you waste on meaningless work," Evernote commands, "Stop wasting time..." We think that's more effective.
It hits a nerve without giving away too much, forcing the reader to open the email to see what goodies Evernote has in store for him or her.
14. "Feed your guests without emptying your wallet" - Pizza Hut
Everyone loves a party or a get-together, but no one loves the incredible expense that comes with it. Simply preparing a meal for a few of your closest friends can cost you several hundred dollars, from appetizers to wine and cocktails.
Pizza Hut has the answer to this email. Have a party, enjoy the company, but don't break the bank. Plus, who says no to pizza?
15. "Happy Birthday, John - Surprise Inside!" - Rent The Runway
We're big fans of the personal email theme. In sales, for example, we want to remember our customer's full name, their spouse's name, their favorite hobby or sport, and any other details that might help me connect.
In fact, all great salespeople do this. You need to love getting to know people and remembering their most important qualities.
However, when it comes to writing email newsletter subject lines, it is just as important. If you make an effort to remember a potential or current client's birthday, you can celebrate the occasion with him or her.
This is a great theme from Rent a Runway . Not only does it wish the client a happy birthday, but it also offers a gift to commemorate the event.
16. "Mary, Earn Double Points Today Only" - Jersey Mike's Subs
If that's not a perfect combination, we don't know what is. Nothing hits the mark more than a personalized newsletter subject line coupled with a sense of urgency. It makes the reader feel like the offer was tailored specifically for them.
Personally, we would feel guilty if we didn't earn those points before the deadline. Plus, by highlighting an exclusive deal (earning double points), Mike's Subscriptions adds value to the email. It makes the reader feel like they're getting something special and worthwhile.
