Effective planning and communication – the fundamentals of multi-project management.
Planning and creating a good schedule that takes into account the most important milestones are the most essential tasks before starting work on any project. When managing several projects in parallel, they become even more important. A solid schedule is a tool in the hands of the project manager that serves many functions: it allows real-time monitoring of the progress of the project work and provides immediate information on delays that occur. However, when managing several projects, care must be taken to ensure that the milestones of the different projects do not overlap and, in addition, that they are not too close to each other. This helps to avoid an uneven distribution of workloads and causes them to "flatten" over the duration of the projects. Flexibility is another quality that an effective project manager must possess, the advantages of which no one needs to demonstrate anymore. However, it should not be confused with being subservient, for example, to subordinates and allowing deadlines to be missed, but should be understood as empathy, adapting to a changing environment naturally and effectively and reacting quickly to changes.
Communication is another important aspect not only for managing multiple projects. Effective exchange of information with team members, clear presentation of project objectives and client needs also bring the final result closer to acceptance. Effective communication when problems arise is also important, as it allows for immediate reaction and prevents problems from escalating.
