Definition Universal Design
Universal Design is a holistic design concept: products, systems, environments and websites should basically be able to be used by as many people as possible.

With universal design – which has its origins in gambling data lebanon the Anglo-Saxon world and the USA – the aim is to ensure that products and websites are universally usable from the outset. No user group should be excluded.

The basic idea behind barrier-free design – which has its origins in Central Europe – is to remove existing barriers. Barrier-free alternatives should be offered for people with disabilities.

Barrier-free design is increasingly adapting to the principles of universal design. These are particularly important in terms of web design

Wide usability: the design should not exclude users from the outset
Flexibility in use: adaptation to the speed of the user
Simple and intuitive operation: avoid complexity, take into account the expectations and skills of users
Perceptible information: Offering different visual and linguistic content formats to address different possibilities and preferences
Fault tolerance: minimizing negative consequences of unintended actions
Low physical effort: minimize fatigue
Access and use: e.g. avoid the possibility of manipulation
Why is universal design important?
Because design can still lead to exclusion!
