The same is true in the workplace

Gaining and using power — wisely, responsibly, and yes, powerfully — is an essential skill for growing a brand. One of the things that attracts us to certain brands is the power they project. As a consumer, you want to be associated with brands that have a strong presence, brands that create a halo effect that draws you in.

Some power trips are worth taking — and you can do them without vietnam mobile database coming off as self-absorbed, ego-inflated hubris. And you can do them in small, slow, subtle ways. Is your team having trouble organizing productive meetings? Volunteer to write the agenda for the next meeting. You’re contributing to the team, and you get to decide what’s on the agenda and what’s not. When it’s time to write a post-project report, is everyone on your team ready? Beg for the chance to write the report — because the hands that hold the pen or tap the keyboard get to write, or at least shape, the history of your organization.

Most importantly, remember that power is largely a matter of perception. If you want people to see you as a powerful brand, act like a credible leader. When you think like a brand, you don’t need org chart authority to be a leader. The fact is that you are the leader. You are leading you!
