A pitched roof should be built on the basis of a sloping rafter system made of wooden beams. In this case, all wooden elements should be pre-dried and treated with fire, water and pest protection agents.
Tools and materials
If you have decided on the parameters, construction material and interior filling of the gazebo, then it's time to start building. Let's consider the entire construction process using the example of a semi-open gazebo with a pitched roof. For work you will need:
cement and sand;
edged board;
roofing felt;
nails;
support beam;
roofing material;
impregnation, paint/varnish.
Preparatory work
First, you need to choose a place for the construction, clear it of unnecessary objects and garbage. Then, on the ground, you should mark the gazebo in accordance with the specified dimensions indicated in the project.
Install pegs in the corners and along the perimeter of the future walls of the gazebo and stretch a rope.
The supporting pillars will serve as a foundation. To do this, dig pits that should be slightly wider than the pillars by 0.5–0.7 m in depth. Make a ten-centimeter cushion at the bottom of the pit from investor data sand and crushed stone. Install the pillars according to the level, fix them, and then fill them with concrete. The timber is pre-treated with an antiseptic, and the part that will be immersed in concrete should be wrapped in roofing felt.
On one side of the gazebo, the support pillars should be lower, which will allow the slope of the pitched roof to be formed. Next, you need to make the upper strapping of the support pillars. Then you need to install the cross beams, to which the lathing will be fixed.
The lathing pitch depends on the roofing material you choose. For example, if it is metal roofing, the lathing pitch should be 40–50 cm. After that, you will need to install the roofing material.
The walls can be made of decorative lattice, which can be decorated with climbing plants. Another option is to install railings around the perimeter of the gazebo, which are fixed to the support posts.
The floor in the gazebo can be made of paving slabs laid directly on the ground, or you can install decking.
