IPMA offers a four-level 4LC certification scheme. What is assessed at each level? Who can obtain a certificate at a particular level? There are four IPMA certification levels tailored to the candidate’s individual project management skills and experience. The definitions of the IPMA levels are determined by key criteria.
Four-level 4LC certification – index:

IPMA Level C
IPMA Level B
IPMA Level A
IPMA Level D
At the first level of certification, knowledge of all project management competencies in areas such as Perspective, People and Practice is only assessed. A candidate must also have the skills to work in a project team. This level of certification is generally chosen by current and future project team members who would like to enhance their skills and become a Certified Associate in Project Management.
IPMA Level C
At IPMA Level C, team management on moderately complex projects is assessed by applying knowledge to all competency elements. The IPMA Level C certification is for project managers who manage moderately belize whatsapp number database projects and for project team members. After passing an exam at this level, you receive the title of Certified Project Manager.
Four-level certification
IPMA Level B
At Level B, the candidate’s leadership in complex projects throughout the project lifecycle is assessed. This also applies to portfolio and program roles and lifecycles. The IPMA-B certification is designed for experienced project managers who manage complex projects, programs, and portfolios. Earning an IPMA Level B certification allows you to earn the title of Certified Senior Project Manager.
An IPMA certification at Level B requires a candidate to have worked in a complex project environment within an organization. The candidate must have at least five years of experience as a project manager within the last eight years. Three of those years must be in a responsible leadership position managing complex projects. Similar work experience in program and portfolio management is required to earn the Certified Senior Program Manager and Certified Senior Portfolio Manager titles.
IPMA Level A
At Level A, the candidate’s leadership on highly complex projects is assessed. The IPMA-A certification is designed for professionals who manage highly complex projects, throughout the entire project lifecycle at a strategic level. Within the last twelve years, the candidate must have at least five years of experience as a project manager in a responsible leadership role on highly complex projects.
At least three of those years must be at a strategic management level. As with IPMA Level B, once you earn Level A certification, you can boast the titles of Certified Project Director, Certified Program Director, and Certified Portfolio Director.
