What is the Commercial Registry?
The Commercial Registry is a document that allows entrepreneurs, businessmen or any person to carry out commercial activities and publicly demonstrate their status as merchants.

After completing the Commercial Registry , you will have the Commercial Registry, which makes public the status of merchant, making entrepreneurs visible to potential clients who consult these registries. This registry contains detailed information on the general data of merchants and companies.

Please note Some types of companies in Colombia require incorporation by public deed. This deed must be registered in the commercial registry of the Chamber of Commerce corresponding to the company's main domicile.

Who must register in the Commercial Registry?
According to Article 28 of the Commercial Code , all persons who carry out commercial activities on a regular and professional basis, whether natural or legal persons, must register in the Commercial Registry . This includes:

“Persons who professionally engage in commerce and their assistants, such as commission agents, brokers, agents, representatives of national or foreign firms.”

In simpler words, if you are a natural or legal person and you carry out commercial activities, such as the sale of products wholesale or retail, you must complete the Commercial Registry .

The Commercial Registry of a company, for example, or of a natural person, should be completed before starting commercial activities. However, article 28 of the Commercial Code gives you a period of one month to do so.
