Matt Mullenweg responds to the WordPress community

Post by shaown »

His speech opened with a reading and a comment of a post that we have already talked about and that is found on his official blog, regarding the relationship that WPEngine has with the community from sweden phone number which, in summary, it draws great benefits without giving back enough.

During this WordCampUS, he was asked questions by the audience in the Q&A session that followed that speech. Some questions focused on his post and what followed, but there was room for a bit of everything.

Following the order of the questions, the first was asked by a representative of GoDaddy , who made a brief preamble to tell what she herself is committed to in terms of greater transparency regarding the contributors dashboard where it is possible to see what everyone does.

After this preamble, the representative asked Mullenweg very directly if, before publicly accusing WP Engine of not doing enough for the community from which it profits, he tried to find a solution directly with the company's top management. Mullenweg responded by emphasizing that he had actually tried to talk and convince WP Engine's leaders to rectify their position.

And then he wanted to make it clear that if someone, within the companies that do not agree with what he thought , were to lose their job because they do not like the support for WordPress or him personally, he is ready to support whoever finds himself in the middle of this crossfire of leaders.

A second question was about the opinion on the open web in correlation to blockchain, crypto and these new dimensions of the web . Regarding the topic, the first answer is that clearly cryptocurrencies are also an expression of the open web and open source applied to financial terms.

Mullenweg also recalled that there are many dangers and then tried to elaborate on how, in the future, these realities could move within WordPress. At the moment, the reasoning continues, there is not yet a great demand for integration, for example, of wallets but it is clear that the field in which cryptocurrencies can be applied is that of e-commerce or donations , the latter a solution increasingly used for example by many creatives.
