Alexander Barinov, Director of the Network Security Product Portfolio at Solar Group, said that the market for network firewalls for deep traffic filtering (NGFW) demonstrated significant growth in 2024. According to him, the number of vendors increased from 10 to 40, and the market itself grew from 5 billion to 52 billion rubles.

In 2024, the Solar Group of Companies initiated certification of the Solar CyberMir software package taking into account customer requirements, for whom compliance with increased software reliability standards is an important criterion. As a result of routine checks in the testing laboratory and certification body of the FSTEC of Russia, the platform for conducting cyber exercises received a certificate of compliance with the 4th level of trust.
However, the optimistic assessment of Alexander Barinov was not shared by Anna Komsha, the leader of the PT NGFW product practice at Positive Technologies. In her opinion, 2024 did not live up to expectations for manufacturers of new-generation firewalls due to the cautious attitude of companies to solving import substitution problems. She called the market's position wait-and-see and explained this by the sales volume being "below the projected figures."
"At the same time, the year was successful for PT NGFW. We have passed comparative tests with solutions from other manufacturers at our clients' and partners' premises, confidently proving high performance. We are the first and so far the only players on the market to receive the FSTEC certificate for compliance with the "Information Security Requirements for Multifunctional Network-Level Firewalls" for the 4th security class. We have released our own line of platforms with a performance of up to 300 Gbit/s on a modern element base, and have entered the register of the Russian radio-electronic industry of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. We have entered the international market. PT NGFW has been chosen to protect infrastructure not only by large customers in the critical information infrastructure segments, but also by commercial clients, whose choice is traditionally wider, since it depends less on the requirements of regulatory authorities," said Anna Komsha
