Quote a tweet and Retweet | What is it? How to do it?

Getting started on Twitter can be like learning a new language. Retweet, RT, mention, follow, unfollow, FF, hashtag… This social network brings us a ton of words that you may never have heard in your life but that have their meaning. In this post I want to resolve some of the most common doubts, for example, how to quote a tweet , what does retweet mean and what is the difference between these two options.

What does retweeting and quoting mean?
Retweeting or retweeting means retweeting. In words you can understand, it means posting someone else's tweet on your Twitter account.

Retweeting is a common practice and serves to share with your followers a tweet that you found funny or interesting for whatever reason. Be careful because retweeting does not necessarily mean that you agree with the retweeted tweet.

Retweeting is not the same as quoting. When you retweet, you directly share another Twitter user's post, but when you quote, you not only share it, but you add a comment to the post.

Personally, I prefer the quote option to the retweet option, cash app database you can add a bit of context to the retweet and acknowledge the original author, by mentioning their username, for example.

How to quote or retweet a tweet?
If you want to quote or retweet a post, look for the symbols that appear below the tweet in question. For example, imagine you want to quote this post from March 31 where we explain how to make a living from a blog.



Do you see those two arrows forming a box? It's the second option from the right and that's the one we're interested in. When you click on it, this pop-up appears.



Now you retweet or quote tweet, depending on what you want to do.

If you regret retweeting something you can undo the retweet by clicking retweet again. The Undo Retweet option will appear.

How to cite a tweet as a bibliography
Now, what happens if you have to cite a tweet outside of Twitter? This is becoming more and more common in the media and even as a bibliography in research papers. No problem, the APA citation guide establishes the following format:
