When you start writing a blog you do so hoping that it will get visitors. But, if you don't want only family and friends to end up reading it, you will have to position the blog in search engines. That is, people will find you by searching through Google, and for that you need to do SEO . Choosing keywords
Keywords are those terms or expressions that define the content of the article. For example, “ genetic diseases ”
To decide which keywords to use we have the Google facebook database Planner , which gives us the search volume for any keyword we enter and a series of related suggestions that we can use.
It is important to use keywords that are as specific as possible (as long as they are searched), because normally the more specific they are, the easier it will be for your article to appear when someone searches for it on Google. If the keyword we choose is too generic, it will be difficult to rank for it, because there will be a lot of competition.
I usually look for two or three keywords per article, trying to make sure that they all revolve around the same topic. So I start with a general keyword and from there I look for its long tail, which is nothing other than specific keywords that contain that general keyword. For example, taking “genetic diseases” as a general keyword, in Adwords I find some quite interesting related keywords, such as “most common genetic diseases” and “human genetic diseases”. Those two (which contain the main keyword, “genetic diseases”)
Include keywords in the title, url and meta description
With the keywords chosen, you can now give your post a good title. Continuing with the example of genetic diseases, a good title would be: The 10 most common human genetic diseases.
Keywords must appear in the title, URL and meta description of the article. Character limits must be taken into account:
The title must have a maximum of 65 characters.
The URL must have a maximum of 70 characters.
The meta description must be 140 characters or less.
It's a good idea to make the most of that number of characters to include as many keywords as possible, so the closer you stay to the limit, the better.
