urban energy GmbH develops cloud and AI-based energy management systems for the optimized use of energy in cellular districts. With bundled know-how in the areas of AI, intelligent algorithms, data science and energy economics, it provides a combined performance forecast for all systems and makes the technical selection for the pool composition.

The colleagues at adesso have in-depth expertise in the energy industry, which has already been built up and proven in previous projects, particularly with regard to virtual power plants. They primarily develop marketing strategies for the technical pool compositions. In addition, adesso offers holistic IoT solutions and equips the virtual power plant with a corresponding platform including analysis tools.

H&S Hard- & Software Technologie GmbH & Co. KG operates as a service provider for companies in industry and energy supply and has services and innovative products for the revision and automation of hydroelectric macedonia consumer email list power plants in its portfolio. H&S also offers the renewal or revision of mechanical components. As part of the research project, the company is also working on the decentralized control of power plants.

The Mainz municipal utilities, with their subsidiary MEE, are focusing heavily on the expansion of renewable energies in the solar, wind and hydropower sectors and are providing power plant expertise and data in the areas of operation and maintenance. For the research project, the municipal utilities will also provide two run-of-river power plants for the practical validation of models.


What has happened so far?
The project started in September 2021 and will run for three years. Since then, the first work packages have been completed, simulations developed and final theses advertised. In September of this year, the consortium partners met in person at the Dortmund office for the first time, where work statuses could be compared and discussed and goals and milestones could be further defined. In addition, the run-of-river power plants mentioned above were inspected together in order to be equipped for the provision of primary control power in the next step.

The project is not only funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, but is also supported within adesso by the Innovation Fund.

What happens next?
Within adesso, there are now around 20 employees involved in project implementation, both from the Line of Business Utilities and from the Line of Business Data & Analytics, who are jointly developing the marketing strategies for the virtual power plant and the business AI. At the internal kick-off in December, all adessi involved will come together for the first time.
